Manufactured from pure cellulose with controlled absorption capacity, this paper is cut into calibrated discs (typically 6 mm in diameter) that retain a precise and reproducible volume of antibiotic solution. After placement on inoculated agar, the antibiotic diffuses and creates a measurable inhibition zone whose diameter reflects the susceptibility of the tested strain.

Applications cover clinical antibiograms in medical microbiology, antibiotic quality control tests in the pharmaceutical industry, research on bacterial resistance, and antimicrobial activity tests in the cosmetic and food industries.
