Glass microfiber filters
The glass microfibre filters from the AllFilter range offered by AllChimie are designed for filtration of loaded samples or those requiring high retention capacity. Manufactured from binder-free borosilicate glass microfibre, they offer a unique combination of filtration fineness, high flow rate and thermal resistance.
These filters stand out for their high loading capacity and their ability to retain fine particles (typically 1 to 2.7 µm) with filtration speeds exceeding those of cellulose papers. They withstand temperatures up to 500 °C, making them compatible with gravimetric analysis protocols including a calcination step.
Typical applications include water analysis (suspended solids, COD), air analysis (atmospheric particles, aerosols), clarification of biological samples, or pre-filtration before membrane analysis. Grammages and diameters cover the needs of environmental and industrial laboratories.
For gravimetric analysis, the filter is weighed before and after filtration on a porcelain dish after passing through an oven or furnace, then kept in a desiccator for tare stabilisation. The vacuum filtration setup relies on a filtration kit with vacuum flask and suitable fritted support, complemented by laboratory tubing for pump connection.
