The quantitative analytical filter papers from the AllFilter range by AllChimie are designed for precision gravimetric analysis protocols and applications where the residue must be weighed or calcined. Manufactured from acid-washed ultra-pure alpha cellulose, they feature extremely low ash content.
Their main characteristic is the negligible residual mineral content (typically < 0.01 %), allowing their use in gravimetric analysis without significant correction. So-called ashless papers can be calcined directly with the residue to obtain the exact mass of the precipitate.
The range covers several filtration speeds (fast, medium, slow) and retention grades to match the particle size of the precipitate to be separated. Typical applications: gravimetric determination, suspended solids analysis, industrial quality control, sample preparation for mineralisation.
The standard gravimetric protocol involves pre-drying the filter on a porcelain dish, intermediate storage in a desiccator and filtration in a funnel above an Erlenmeyer flask. For filtration of heavily loaded samples or those containing very fine particles, glass microfibre filters offer a high-capacity alternative.
