Dropping funnel

The dropping funnels from AllChimie are the reference tool for controlled addition of liquid reagents into a reaction setup. Unlike separatory funnels, they are designed for vertical mounting on a reaction flask via a standardised ground joint, close to the reaction medium.

Manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3, they withstand the stresses of exothermic reactions and common organic solvents. The PTFE stopcock enables fine flow regulation, essential for drop-wise additions in sensitive syntheses. The female joint fits NS 14, NS 19, NS 24 or NS 29 necks depending on the setup.

Available in cylindrical, pressure-equalising (iso-pressure) or plain versions, these funnels meet the needs of synthetic organic chemistry, controlled solvent transfer and catalysis. Pressure-equalising versions are particularly suitable for closed systems or inert atmospheres.

In a complete synthesis setup, the dropping funnel pairs with a ground-neck flask, a funnel for initial loading, and mounts on a laboratory support. Mechanical or magnetic stirring of the medium ensures homogenisation during addition. For upstream sampling, use a graduated pipette or a graduated cylinder.
